What did you like most about this book?
I loved the encouraging words throughout the book.
What was your overall impression of this book?
I loved the little nuggets of wisdom throughout the book. I especially loved how the author equated the relationship she has with her husband to the relationship we have with God. All of the poems were great, but one of my favorites was Word of Advice. In this poem, the greatest piece of advice Shawn gives is, "The only one worth crying over is the one who gave His life for us." Another poem that I loved was `Missing Love.' In this piece Shawn is challenging Love to show itself, prove that it exists and is not just a figment of her imagination. If you love poetry this is the book for you!!!!

I am still a newcomer to poetry. I know what I like and don't like. In the case of A Walk With My Father...I LOVE IT!!! The poems speak to a certain part of your life whether it's in the past, present, or future. The reason I feel so strongly about this book is because Shawn E. has truly given a voice to all the emotions and confusion that comes with growing up. As a woman that has had major struggles in her life, the poems in this book open up my eyes a little more about myself and where I go in this life. Yes, it's just that good!!! One of my favorite poems is "Grown Folks Talk". This one speaks loudly to me. A Walk With My Father is not just a must read for entertainment, it's a must read for life!!
