When I started reading this book I cringed. I'm not a social media fan. In fact, my goal in life is to live in a wire-less cave, which I leave once a week to buy popcorn at Target. But, I quickly learned this book was about something else: the honest communication between a man with his online "friends." The humor in this book is great. But, the thing I found interesting, and a bit haunting, was its honesty. You'll get something out of this book. There is some substantial wisdom here. Also, I feel this is a particularly good book for young men, especially any young man with diabetes. Great stuff. 5 stars!Product details

Another entry from Mark Trost, Social Status is a great, easy read. A collection of Facebook posts spanning from 2009-2012, the posts range from those that mirror the everyday thoughts of us all to laugh out loud funny observations.
As with his other books, Post Marked and Beers, Buddies, Bullshit, Women, Sex & God, as the pages progress, the reader comes to look forward into each new post. When Trost posts that he's getting ready for a date, the reader finds themselves eagerly looking forward to the next post to see an update-just the way you would for a friend.
Mixed in with the humor and day-to-day life comments are touching, thoughtful, and thought provoking posts that allow the reader to pause and contemplate their own response. With the format as a dated series of postings, I found this hard to put down, since each page had me hungry for the next astute observation or witty comment.
Great read! Words weaved well and makes you want to keep reading so you can finish it in an afternoon or two. Great read for an airplane! Parts we can all relate to and others offer a different and sometimes enlightening perspective. You will reflect on parts long after reading.
