Logan's Leap in the second in the Harper's Rock series by husband/wife writing team JJ and TA Ellis. I loved the first in this series, Russell's Return, and I am just as thrilled with this second story. I love how these authors tie together the characters from the series along with characters from the Alaskan Ambush series. It is like revisiting old friends.In this second tale, we focus on Logan, one of Russell's younger brothers. I don't want to say he is actually happy in his life, which centers almost solely around his grocery store he owns and manages. I rather think that he has made himself believe he is happy with his decision to never let himself get close to anyone, never have a family. He has squashed his emotions down, as a way to deal with the ghost of his deceased older brother, Ben. Really, Logan is just going through the motions every day. In plops the unexpected arrival of a heavily pregnant Jayna. She is on the run from an abusive ex-boyfriend, and terrified for the life of her baby. Logan, being the honorable man he is, vows to help her and help keep her and her baby safe. Jayna is able to touch his heart, and teaches Logan about love and that it doesn't have to be a terrible thing. I don't want to give too much away - you will have to read the story yourself! =) I love the element of suspense and action this story has as well. At the end, I was honestly proud of Logan, and so happy that they got their much deserved happily ever after.

A great story filled with caring and incredible love. This story has humour, romance and suspense which makes this a terrific feel good read!
I highly recommend this story.
In the mood for a simple love story, the kind that makes you go 'awwwww' and leaves you feeling all warm inside? If so, try out Logan's Leap. In unadorned prose husband and wife time of JJ and TA Ellis bring to life a believable and likable couple Jayna and Logan, who would never have had a chance to be together except for serendipitous circumstances.
On the plus side, the characters are nicely drawn and quite appealing. They make the story. Also, the plot is interesting and never grows dull.
On the other hand, there's a fair bit of telling, even in places where showing would have been more appropriate, so readers who MUST have everything shown might find this irritating.
But if you can get past that, can take the story on its own terms, it's a charming, romantic tale, perfect for the beach, or curling up in front of the fire.
This is an amazing story of two lovers who happened to meet by chance, under difficult circumstances. Some might even say fate. The two began falling in love on the run. This book has EVERYTHING! Suspense, humor, romance, etc. It makes for an amazing heart warming read that definitely keeps you on your toes. I most definitely recommend it!
This is the first book by collaborative team JJ & TA Ellis that I have read, and I was pleased to discover that it was a well-thought out, entertaining and enjoyable read.
The characters are well-fleshed out and likeable, and the story follows Logan Harper and his interactions with Jayna, a young, pregnant woman on the run from an abusive partner who is the father of her child. Logan, for his own reasons, has given up on love and finds himself in the difficult position of being attracted to Jayna and wanting to help her, but determined not to get too close. Through a series of events, Harper finds himself becoming more involved with Jayna and her baby boy, and while he admits to love for baby CJ, he struggles to name the emotions he feels for Jayna.
Add into the plot a vengeful ex-boyfriend, the boyfriend's villainous henchmen and Logan's loving but flawed family, and you have an enjoyable read which is perfect for wiling away a couple of hours.
The book is well-fleshed out; although the authors suggest it is suitable to be read as a stand-alone novel, I would suggest reading the books in order. Having not read the first book in the series, there were a couple of minor moments during reading where I felt like I was missing some tiny pieces of the puzzle, particularly the intricacies of the relationships between the Harpers' and their extended family.
There were some minor typo issues throughout the story, but not enough to detract from the enjoyment of reading. Overall, I'd give it a solid four and a half stars, but given that don't deal with halves, I'm rounding up.
Definitely recommended for those people who love a good romance, enjoy the friendly nature of living in a country town, and books which follow extended families with all their idiosyncrasies. I will certainly be reading more of JJ & TA Ellis's books and intend to start on another one of their books from my TBR pile next.
